Youth Ministry Meeting

December 6, 2009

Present: Pastor Rhonda, Bruce Riebe, Betsy Vincent, Mary Johnson, Lisa Lynn, Laura Schmidt, Kim Schmidt

Absent: Tina Anderson, Brandi Engren

Pastor Rhonda opened with prayer and thanksgiving.

1.      Reviewed Open November Meeting Minutes

A.     Are there two bank accounts? Yes. Youth General Fund-Mission Trip

B.     Who has checkbook? Kept in safe/office -Pastor Rhonda/Youth Counsel Rep authorized signers/CPA audit confirmed all is well

C.     What forms need to be filled out for reimbursement of expenses? Green form (church secretary office) filled out with receipts attached, must have receipt to be reimbursed for youth expenses.

D.     Where do the pymts for confirmation fees get posted? General Fund

E.      Need for another male/female on youth Team with grown children. Mary Johnson joined Youth Ministry Team-Mary is a teacher has grown children and attends 1^st worship.

F.      Why we use Luther Point Bible Camp/Alternative Camps-We are a member of Luther Point with a long history/relationship

G.     Operation Christmas Child-2008 no boxes were collected, Feed My Starving Children replaced shoeboxes. Need to coordinate with other groups in church so we don’t duplicate efforts (Welca Christmas boxes) Warehouse signup by Oct 2010 should we go to warehouse if we don’t collect boxes?

2.      Thanksgiving Auction Proceeds 5XX.00 will be posted in bulletin next week. ½ to mission fund, ½ to general fund. Thanks to Jan & Kathy

3.      T-Shirt order was dropped off on 12/3/09. 200.00 deposit with order to Rum River Embr. Add’l orders will be taken now until spring.

4.      Christmas Flower orders started. Orders due by Dec 13^th.

5.      Service Projects 2010

A.     Habitat for Humanity-St Francis

B.     Feed My Starving Children-Pastor Rhonda schedules annually Spring/Fall 2010

C.     Help Church Congregation W/Spring Cleanup, Community Garden, Ballfield Playground/Flower Garden, Stain picnic tables/Ballfield benches

D.     Help Elder population with yard work, wash window, light housekeeping (Betsy Vincent/Mary Johnson to coordinate)

E.      Clean Cornerstone-assign by confirmation mentor group

F.      Christmas Caroling-December 19^th at Sollbackken from 1:30-2:00 (Kim Schmidt to coordinate sign-up) Betsy Vincent to coordinate cookies and cocoa at Sollbackken following caroling.

6.      Pastor Rhonda/Monica Alhmond need two reps from Youth Ministry Team to serve on Cornerstone Committee. The Cornerstone Committee will make recommendations to council regarding the renovation of the Cornerstone Building. Lisa Lynn, Bruce Riebe and Kim Schmidt volunteered to serve on the Committee.

7.      Lock-in December 28, 2009- 8pm to 6:30 AM

A.     Tim Hemsworth to provide DJ Service

B.     Pastor Rhonda –Bible study on Gossip/Drama/Facebook

C.     Open to all 6^th-12^th graders and friends

D.     Cost: 5.00 without non-perishable food item,4.00 with food item

E.      Snack Shack-Taco’s in a bag, fruit/veggies/bars/pop/water/Rolls/Juice Laura Schmidt to coordinate

F.      Tentative Chaperones-Tina Anderson, Lisa/Martin Lynn,Jim/Betsy Vincent, Bruce Riebe, Pastor Rhonda

8.      Soup Supper-December 16, 2009 Youth

Pastor Rhonda will announce at Confirmation Wens Dec 9 and send sign-up sheet around for Veg Beef Soup, dessert/milk/rolls/crackers/parent volunteers.
